New Gurit Business Unit Engineered Structures formed to address additional composite market opportunities

Zürich, September 20, 2011. In order to more rigorously address new market opportunities for composite applications, Gurit is bundling its world-leading composite structural engineering skills with business development and rapid prototyping resources in a new dedicated business unit called Engineered Structures.

Engineered Structures will continue to support the engineering needs of Gurit’s traditional strongholds in Wind Energy and Marine but will also be able to address the full value chain in new markets with a comprehensive service offering encompassing conceptual design, structural engineering, material selection, rapid prototyping services and component manufacturing.

Graham Harvey, currently General Manager of Gurit’s Marine Business, will manage this new venture as of October 1, 2011 and report directly to the CEO.

The search for a new General Manager for Gurit’s Marine business has been launched. Graham Harvey will continue to run the Marine business until a successor has been found.

“This is the start of a next growth initiative for Gurit: It follows the rapid build-up of its business presence in Asia and the strategic broadening of its material and services offering for the Wind Energy market with Tooling and the development of a complete core material product range”, says Rudolf Hadorn, CEO of Gurit.
